xAI’s new model named Grok-2

Elon Musk's xAI has revealed the new Chatbot model named Grok-2. xAI was in the news for training its AI models using X user data without consent. Unlike other models, Grok-2 is integrated with the X platform itself.
Why it matters?
Grok-2 can now generate images using the Flux.1 model from BlackForest labs. The image quality is impressive. Check out some of the generated images here.
Grok-2 is not OpenSource so external evaluations are limited. However, it has been tested in the LSYMS Chatbot Arena leaderboard under the pseudonym "sus-column-r", Grok-2 outperformed models like GPT-3.5 and GPT-4o mini.

Anthropic Claude’s prompt caching technique

Right off the bat, Anthropics Claude Prompt caching will save you a lot of money. Lets look into it.
Why it matters?
Imagine you are asking the AI chatbot, to answer complex questions, like summarize a book or a report. Normally, you would spend for the number of words (tokens) used. With Claude prompt caching, AI will store the response in a "caching server".
Now, when the same or similar question is asked again, the AI will respond quickly using the cached information, which saves time and money.
Saving prompts to cache will cost 25% more initially but when the cached prompts are used, it will only cost 10% of the original price.

Claude Prompt caching is a "No brainer" for businesses and enterprises to enable this for handling repetitive queries like FAQs. By using this excellent tool, you will not only increase efficiency but also lower costs.
Talk to Google Gemini with Gemini Live

Google Assistant is replaced with Gemini AI. Now, with Gemini Live, you can converse with Gemini AI like any other voice assistant.
Why it matters?
Gemini is integrated with Google's ecosystem. Google apps like Gmail, YouTube and Google Drive. With this integration, Gemini AI will tailor the responses based on your activity with these apps.
With Gemini Live, users can talk to Gemini AI while using any other app. You can also interrupt Gemini to get updated responses.
Users have also found Gemini difficult for simple tasks like setting reminders, playing news or controlling smart home devices. It is always like this, AI can do complex tasks but it is low with simple tasks.

Controversial California AI bill SB-1047 from state Senator Scott Weiner is all set to go to the state Assembly floor later this month. The supporters of this bill believe that AI is growing more than human creators control, whereas the Silicon Valley companies believe that this bill will suppress AI growth.
Artists celebrate Copyright infringement
A group of visual artists including famous artists like Sarah Andersen and Kelly McKernan have filed a lawsuit against AI image generator companies like Midjourney, Runway, and Stability AI. Artists allege that image generator AI companies used their copyrighted art without permission to train their AI models.
While the judge has agreed to move parts of this lawsuit forward to the "discovery phase", but most of the claims were dismissed, yet the artists celebrated this positive movement in the lawsuit.
In this "discovery phase", the internal documents from the AI companies will be examined which will potentially reveal about the AI models training datasets and processes.
