Google’s DeepMind AI developed and trained a Robot to achieve human-level speed and performance in competitive table tennis.
The Essentials:
In 29 matches played, the robot won 45% against human players; Won all matches against beginners and won 55% against intermediate players. But it lost all matches against advanced players.
The robot adapts to real-time playing styles, which showcases its ability to adapt during matches.
The robot was equipped with advanced sensors and algorithms to detect the ball's movement and motion sensors for accurate tracking of the ball.
The Takeaway:
Robots have beaten humans in different games like Chess, Jeopardy etc. But this is the first physical game where a Robot can beat human players, which denotes that we are in the next level of AI and Robotics.

Alibaba tops AI Math benchmarks.
Alibaba's Qwen2-Math Open-Source AI model takes the No.1 spot outperforming other AI models such as OpenAI's GPT-4o, Anthropic's Claude 3.5 Sonnet, and Google's Math-Gemini Specialized 1.5 Pro.
The Essentials:
Alibaba, the Chinese Tech giant has released over 100 AI models under the sub-brand name "Tongyi Qianwen” or "Qwen" for short.
Qwen2-Math-72B variant scores 84% on the Match Benchmark for LLMs.
In this Math benchmark, LLMs are provided with "12,500 challenging complex math problems"
An example of a problem :
Not only does it outperform other AI models at "Math benchmark for LLMs" but also outperformed at "Grade school Math benchmark - GSM8K (8500 questions)" and "College Math benchmark"
90,000 enterprises in China are said to have adopted Qwen models in their operations in the first year of the Qwen's availability

Wendy’s drive-thru can speak Spanish.
Wendys Fresh AI, the drive-thru assistant powered by Google's Gemini AI, now supports Spanish as a communication language. Spanish-speaking customers can order their food in Spanish by activating the FreshAI assistant in the drive-thru by saying 'Spanish' or 'Español'.
Dead mother reappeared at her funeral.
CEO of AI startup StoryFile, created an AI avatar of his deceased mother to speak at her funeral in front of the people who attended her funeral. The AI avatar was created based on the previous video conversations of his mother. Is it creepy or lovely to bring a dead person to speak again?
BMW integrates humanoid in manufacturing.
BMW conducted a test by integrating Figure02 Humanoid robots from a California-based company into their car manufacturing process at the South Carolina plant. The video demo shows the humanoids performing tasks like carrying and attaching parts to the car build. While the scene seems like in a Sci-Fi movie, the real-world use-case of humanoids is for complex, repetitive tasks, where humans focus on more creative tasks.
Instagram is loaded with AI Partners
Instagram is now filled with AI Boyfriends and Girlfriends. Meta's new "AI Studio" allows users in the U.S. to create an AI avatar version of themselves that can engage in conversations. Researchers predict this could become a "Billion-dollar" industry, where humans can have real-life conversations with AI avatars. Platforms like Character AI and Replika which features AI avatars have gained popularity among younger audiences.
Spotify is full of AI music
Spotify is full of AI-generated music tracks. Certain AI-generated bands have accumulated thousands of listeners raising concerns about copyrights and the impact of royalties on real artists. While Spotify has no plan to ban AI music, experts believe that Spotify should at least label these tracks as "AI generated" to ensure transparency for listeners.
